2011 Harvest
This was the perfect year for growing olives. The weather was relatively mild with few days over 100°F and no significant weather events during bloom. The crop set was very good and the fruit size was also remarkable. However, just before harvest began, the temperature dipped into the 20s for 3 days in a row. This caused significant frost damage to the ripening fruit. So, we're crossing our fingers, hoping that the damage is limited. We have instructed our harvest crew to pick around the brown, frost damaged fruit so as not to taint the flavor of our exceptional organic Estate grown fruit.
The olives were very clean at harvest time again this year, with much less than 1% damage from the olive fruit fly.
